1960 Edenhope Premiership Football Team

“JB” Forster has done a wonderful job to organise all but three living (4 team members have passed on) members of the Jack Finck’s second premiership team in three years – the  1960 Premiership Team, to celebrate a reunion during the Edenhope-Apsley Saints versus Harrow Balmoral Roos game at Edenhope this Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend  11th June, 2011.  Coming from as far as Bairnsdale and Darwin, everyone is making a special effort  and looking forward to a great weekend.   There will be a display of newspaper clippings, photographs and no doubt lots of stories being told on the day.
Team members of the 1971-1972 Premiership (photo courtesty Donna And-Wayne Farr on the Edenhopehistory facebook site)   team will also celebrate a reunion with coach John McBain , who went on to play with Port Adelaide Football Club, together with the famous  former Norwood and Collingwood player Phil Carman.
The back to back wins were against Kybybolite and 1970 Kyby coach Graeme MacKenzie, who previously played with Fitzroy, will be at the “The Longneck Club” at 1pm where the 1970-71 players will meet along with the 1960 boys.

The evening will continue with entertainment from Kevin Sporer , a very popular entertainer for many past Edenhope events.  On Sunday, a BBQ lunch at the clubrooms from 11 am – 1 pm ……… and another chance to reminisce!!

For all the ex footy players now turned golfing addicts –  Edenhope Golf Club plays competition golf on Sunday afternoons and welcomes visiting players.

A project we are working on is to erect heritage signage on some of the historical sites in our town. We are focusing on the following suggestions to start with:
Police Station, Post Office,  Court House, Schools, Churches, Banks,  Hospital, Mechanic’s Hall, P&A Society, Shire Offices, Hotels, General Stores, Newsagent, Blacksmith, Cobb & Co Stable and Garages.  Of course this will all take time, research and money although we have lots of information and some photos already.  We will try to apply for grants to help pay for the signs.  If anyone can help with information or photos about these sites please let us know.  Donations toward the cost of the signs would also be GREATLY APPRECIATED and acknowledged!
